Volunteer Fire Capacity Grant 

This is an annual grant program funded by the USDA and administered by CAL FIRE. In April 2023, BFPD received a matching Volunteer Fire Capacity Grant in the amount of $5,140 to purchase 4 Handheld Radios.

In April 2022, the Burney Fire Protection District applied for a matching grant.  The grant was for the purchase wildland fire equipment.  The district was awarded $9,873, half of what was requested.  This is a 50/50 matching program. The district will fund the remaining amount.

Assistance to Firefighters Grant 

The Burney Fire Protection District applies every year for a grant from AFG. The district's application has been approved in the amount of $121,529.57 for the replacement of our Self-Contained Breath Apparatus (SCBA).  The last time the SCBA's were replaced was in 2004 through an AFG grant.  The district's share is $6,076 for a total budget of $127,605.05.

Assistance to Firefighters Grant 

BFPD was awarded a Grant from AFG for purchase of a Type 1 4x4 ambulance, to include a gurney and hardware in September 2021.  The grant in the amount of $237,380.95 required the District to contibute non-Federal funds equal to 5% of the Federal funds awarded, or $11,869.05. for a total of $249,250.00.

California Office of Traffic Safety Grant 

In October of 2023, OTS approved a traffic safety grant, the Regional Crash Response and Extrication Improvement Program, to the Burney Fire Protection District in the amount of $65,000 to purchase new extrication equipment. Known as the "jaws of life", first responders use these specialized tools to safely rescue crash victims trapped inside a vehicle. 

Community Foundation of the North State 

In February 2024, the BFPD received a grant fund from the Community Foundation of the North State in the amount of $1,000 to be used for equipment as needed.

In June 2022, the BFPD received a grant fund from the Redding Rancheria Community Fund in the amount of $2,500 to purchase gas leak detectors to be utilized by emergency personnel.

In October 2021, the BFPD received a grant fund from the Redding Racheria Community Fund in the amount of $5200 toward the purchase of (2) Automatic Electronic Defibrillators (AEDs).

Burney Regional Community Fund 

In April 2023, BFPD received a grant fund from Burney Regional Community Fund in the amount of $3,500 to purchase a Supervac Positive Ventilator.

In April 2022, BFPD received a grant fund from Burney Regional Community Fund in the amount of $3,000 towards the purchase of (3) Automatic Electronic Defibrillators (AEDs).  

In April 2021, BFPD received a grant fund from the Burney Regional Community Fund in the amount of $6,615 to purchase Firefighting Personnel Protective Equipment.
